Quebec City has played a pivotal role in the evangelization of the Roman Catholic faith in North America. Récollet missionary priests, Jesuits, as well as Augustinian and Ursuline nuns arrived in Quebec City in the 17th century and ensured a strong foundation for the Roman Catholic Church in North America.
