Franciscan Youth Raise Funds for Fresh Water Access
The need for fresh water is paramount
Water is a necessity for life and yet many of our brothers and sisters around the world do not have proper access to it. They are often forced to walk many hours every day for a minimal quantity of polluted water. Thousands of people die each year from such water and water related diseases.
The Franciscan Youth and Young Adult Commission of the Secular Franciscan Order in the United States has undertaken an effort called the H2O Project to combat polluted water. The H20 Project is a fundraiser and a challenge to those of us who take beverages for granted. It asks us to forgo all beverages except for water for 2 weeks; the savings from this venture will be used by the Franciscan Youth and Young Adult Commission to build wells for needy communities around the world.
Without fresh water life cannot continue
The Franciscan Youth and Young Adult Commission of the Secular Franciscan Order of the United States is an organization for young people in the 14 to 26 age range who are looking to get closer to Jesus Christ by pursuing Franciscan ideals. At age 26, members of the Franciscan Youth and Young Adult Commission meditate on their vocation and if they feel the call, they join the Secular Franciscan Order.
We encourage you our readers to send in stories where you see the spirit of St. Francis shine. Email your stories to Peter Rajchert at peter@franciscans.org.
