Mass at the 'Cuse House

On April 12th, Father Gerry Waterman had the opportunity to celebrate Mass at the ‘Cuse House, home of Syracuse University Chancellor Kent Syverud and Dr. Ruth Chen of Syracuse University. This was the first Catholic Mass to ever be celebrated in the house. With more than 4,000 Catholic students at Syracuse, Father Gerry invited 150 students who have been active in Campus Ministry to gather for this historic Mass. These students attend Syracuse University, Syracuse University College of Law, and State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY). Chancellor Kent Syverud greeted and welcomed all the students to the Mass. After Mass, students and guests were served dinner which included a lobster bisque, lamb lollipops, a carving station, a Mediterranean spread, and much more. Father Gerry would like to make the Mass at the ‘Cuse House an annual event where different students have the opportunity to share their faith with their classmates. Father Gerry appreciates being able to share his ministry with other friars who also direct a Campus Ministry in nearby colleges. This is one of many Universities that our Friars minister in, each of them help students grow in their faith during their college years.
