Feast Day of Saint Joseph of Cupertino

Today, we celebrate the feast day of Saint Joseph of Cupertino, a Conventual Franciscan priest. St. Joseph was born on June 17, 1603 in Copertino, Italy. St. Joseph was in his early twenties when he joined the Conventual Franciscans. He was a slow learner however during his exams St. Joseph memorized one answer and was asked that one question by his teacher. He passed his exam and was able to continue his studies. St. Joseph is known as the patron saint of exam takers, most of them being students. He had the gift of levitation and was known to levitate during his prayer. St. Joseph died at the age of 60 on September 18, 1663 in Osimo, Marche, Papal States. He was beatified on February 24, 1753 in Rome by Pope Benedict XIV and canonized a saint July 16, 1767, by Pope Clement XIII.

Prayer to St. Joseph of Cupertino for Success in Examinations

This powerful prayer is very effective in examinations. It has to be said before appearing in the examination:

O Great St. Joseph of Cupertino who while on earth did obtain from God the grace to be asked at your examination only the questions you knew, obtain for me a like favor in the examinations for which I am now preparing. In return I promise to make you known and cause you to be invoked. Through Christ our Lord. St. Joseph of Cupertino, pray for us.

Amen.

Our Conventual Franciscans have been blessed to have one of four Provinces named after this great Franciscan brother, to learn more about their Province or contact any of the vocation directors visit us HERE.
