Friar Joins Catholic University of America Students to Assisi

Brother Jim Moore is currently the Guardian of St. Bonaventure Friary in Silver Spring, MD. He currently works as the Assistant Director of Post-Novitiate Formation. He was invited by the Catholic University of America (CUA) staff to accompany 10 male student athletes to Rome and Assisi for ten days. Brother Jim is the former Campus Minister and was the “tour guide” at the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and journeyed with them to all of the Franciscan sites in Assisi. The Franciscan pilgrimage was an opportunity for student to reflect on what the day’s experience meant to them. Students “toured” the sites of Saint Francis and Saint Clare. Brother Jim shared that, “The all commented on what an amazing impact Assisi and Saints Francis and Clare had on them. They related to Francis' struggle to understand what God was asking him to do and they prayed for their own 'conversion' and clarity as to how they are to 'preach the Gospel and if necessary, use words!". Brother Jim along with the current campus minister shared their personal stories about faith and vocation. Students asked questions and shared a lot in their group reflections. Brother Jim witnessed them sharing their faith and struggles among each other. He is grateful for the amazing experience.
